The programmes consist of courses and an individual programme of research leading to a dissertation. The licentiate corresponds to 120 HECs (higher-education credits), or two years of full-time study, while the doctorate comprises 240 HECs, or four years of full-time study. The course credits that are required in a degree programme may differ from one field of educational research to another.
